Street Perspectives 2026: An Afternoon with the Buy Side & Sell Side

Join NIRI San Francisco Bay Area for a discussion bringing together senior voices from the sell side and buy side to discuss the markets and how public company management teams can most effectively engage with the Street in 2026.
This timely panel will examine evolving investor expectations across software, AI, and technology-enabled business models, with a focus on how capital markets dynamics, research coverage, and portfolio construction are changing—and what that means for IR strategy.
The conversation will feature perspectives from the sell side, including Elizabeth Porter, Software Analyst at Morgan Stanley, alongside buy-side analyst Jordan Martinez, Capital International, who actively invest across software and technology-driven sectors.

Program Overview

Street Perspectives 2026 is designed specifically for Investor Relations officers, CFOs, finance leaders, and capital markets professionals seeking practical insights into:
  • What buy-side investors are prioritizing as software and AI business models mature
  • How sell-side research is evolving in coverage initiation, valuation frameworks, and differentiation
  • Best practices for engaging investors amid heightened scrutiny, faster information cycles, and AI-driven analysis
  • How to position your equity story for long-term investors in a selective and performance-driven market

Shareholder activism is evolving quickly, with issuers facing pressure from both established activists and a growing number of new entrants. While well-known activists continue to launch campaigns at a rapid pace, first-time activists can be harder to identify, less predictable, and more willing to escalate. At the same time, the use of derivatives and swaps can obscure economic exposure, making it more difficult for companies to understand who is building influence and why.

Join us as our speakers discuss how issuers can better detect activist activity, evaluate potential risks, and prepare for engagement when an activist investor reaches out.

Key Takeaways

•Understand the evolving activist landscape: Learn why both established and first-time activists require attention, and how an activist’s identity, history, and tactics can shape the company’s response.

•Identify hidden ownership and accumulation strategies: Explore how derivatives, swaps, and other instruments may be used to build economic exposure and complicate visibility into activist positions.

•Build a proactive engagement framework: Discuss whether to accept a call or meeting with an activist, who should be involved, and how issuers can prepare while maintaining control of the corporate narrative.
